  • Democrats are uniting around a plan to offer a few years of subsidized private insurance to low-income people in states that haven’t expanded Medicaid. The move is an effort to fill the coverage gap in those states that has been a major piece of the party’s health care platform and win the support of moderates. The proposal comes after Senator Joe Manchin expressed opposition to a plan to create a new federal program that covers people in the Medicaid gap. (Article here)
