- Liz Fowler, director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), said health care organizations participating in new value-based payment models will be required to create health equity plans outlining how they will serve underserved patients and curb health disparities. Fowler said that the CMMI is considering how it can help providers in underserved areas participate in value-based care and how it can implement bundled payment models that take into account the total cost of care.
