  • A report from the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission found that the percentage of Medicare beneficiaries in Parts A and B enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) plans will exceed 50 percent in 2023.The panel also discovered that this year spending in MA will be 4 percent higher than fee-for-service Medicare after considering coding practices such as upcoding, which leads to higher quality bonuses for plans. Separately, an Axios analysis of federal data found that more than 28.5 million seniors and people with disabilities were enrolled in a private MA plan as of January 1, an 8.8 percent increase from the same time in 2021. Based on prior full-year trends, MA enrollment in 2022 likely will surpass the federal government’s prediction of 29.5 million people. (Articles here and here)
