  • Senator Lindsay Graham introduced a bill that would ban abortions nationally after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The bill would retain state laws that are more restrictive while replacing laws in states that protect abortion. The legislation includes exceptions for incest, rape, and medical emergencies. It also includes a potential five-year jail sentence for any provider who violates the ban. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters that most Republican senators want to leave the issue to that states and that even if Republicans take control of the Senate, he doesn’t intend to eliminate the filibuster to pass a national abortion ban.
