- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a memo reminding hospitals of their responsibility to protect patients and health care workers from physical violence in the workplace. The memo said hospitals should be able to demonstrate their procedures to identify patients who are likely to harm either themselves or others, have emergency preparedness plans that take these types of safety risks into account, and ensure that staff receive appropriate training on how to identify and mitigate risks.
