- A group of 13 lawmakers called on the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) to account for the “troubling price increases for brand name drugs” in January. The group, led by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar, accused drugmakers of “taking advantage of their abusive market power to expand already large profits.” A PhRMA spokesperson said prices rose by just 1.3 percent last year and pointed to other drivers of health care costs.
