  • The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) released a new report indicating that the federal government spent $12 billion more on patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) than it would have under traditional Medicare in 2020. MedPAC told Congress the rising costs could threaten Medicare’s sustainability and urged lawmakers to reform the MA program, which relies on private plans to oversee seniors’ health care and can include benefits not offered through standard Medicare.
