  • Kaufman Hall’s latest National Hospital Flash Report indicates that hospitals and health systems suffered their fourth straight month of negative operating margins in April. The median operating margin index for hospitals and health systems in April was -3.09 percent, down nearly 40 percent compared to March and 76 percent from April 2021. Operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization declined nearly 27 percent from March to April and 51.5 percent compared to the same month in 2021. Patient days were down 5.7 percent month-over-month and 1.8 percent compared to April 2021. (Report here)
