Providers
  • CMS proposed the creation of a new provider designation for rural hospitals that seeks to prevent closures and improve access to care. The proposed rule aligns with Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, which created the new rural emergency hospital provider type to address growing concerns over closures of rural hospitals. Designated rural emergency hospitals would be able to receive Medicare payments beginning in 2023. (Proposed rule here; Article here)
