  • The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended prescribing medications that prevent HIV to adolescents and adults who are at increased risk for acquiring the virus. The A grade recommendation is consistent with the USPSTF’s 2019 ruling on preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use for reducing HIV infection in those who are at higher risk. The draft document was released as compulsory coverage for the treatment, as well as the USPSTF’s existence, are both being challenged in federal court. (Press release here)
