  • A federal judge in Alabama approved Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies’ $2.67 billion antitrust settlement. The ruling ends policyholders’ decadelong legal battle against 34 BCBS plans, alleging that the BCBS Association’s rules capping revenue and limiting geographic coverage violated the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. The judge ordered BCBS plans to start paying customers their part of the settlement after 30 days. (Article here)
