  • The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Biden administration have two vastly different estimates of the number of people who would become uninsured under the House Republicans’ debt bill, which would impose Medicaid work requirements. According to the CBO, about 600,000 people would become uninsured under the plan to impose Medicaid work requirements, but an analysis from the Biden administration analysis says that 21 million people are at risk. The bill will not likely pass the Senate, given strong Democratic opposition to work requirements and many other provisions, but it could serve to kick off negotiations if House Republicans are able to pass it this week.
