  • Oregon became the first state to receive financial support for mobile mental health crisis intervention units. The state will receive American Rescue Plan funding that seeks to deploy unarmed responders in cases of mental health or substance use disorder crises instead of involving the police. Senator Ron Wyden said the state will now be the first to qualify for a federal Medicaid match of 85 percent over the next three years in reimbursements for the services delivered to Medicaid beneficiaries. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra encouraged other states to follow Oregon’s lead in accessing such funding. (Articles here)
