  • Merck & Co. announced that the federal government will buy another $1 billion worth its COVID-19 pill called molnupiravir. The government spent $1.2 billion on 1.7 million courses of the drug in June and is now exercising its option to buy 1.4 million more. In total, the U.S. has secured 3.1 million courses worth $2.2 billion. Merck said the government has the right to buy 2 million more courses as part of the contract. (Article here)
