  • The World Health Organization (WHO) characterized monkeypox as a “moderate” public health risk as the illness spreads to varying geographical locations. The WHO said that since May 26, a total of 257 laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported across the globe. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky confirmed Friday that ten cases have been detected in the U.S. (Articles here, here, and here)
