  • Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh met with leaders from 14 health plans to ensure they are offering birth control as required by the ACA. The two secretaries, along with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, also issued a letter notifying all insurers that they must cover at least one form of contraception within each FDA-approved category of birth control at no cost to members. The secretaries previously warned health insurers that they could face increased scrutiny and potential enforcement actions over skimpy coverage of birth control. AHIP says its members comply with the law, offering coverage based on their formularies without cost-sharing. (Press release here; Article here)
