- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first treatment for alopecia treatment that restores hair growth. The agency said that two trials showed that Eli Lilly & Co.’s Olumiant helped roughly 40 percent of the 1,2000 trial participants achieve complete or near-total hair regrowth after 36 weeks, while about half the study participants had full regrowth after a year.
