Access & Coverage
  • The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) published a study revealing that only 3 percent of people got Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchange coverage within a year after leaving Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Of those who secured coverage, 3.9 percent were enrolled in Medicaid and 3.3 percent in CHIP. Beneficiaries who transitioned from Medicaid or CHIP to the ACA marketplace were more likely to have a gap in their coverage. The average coverage gap was three months, but was longer for Black, Hispanic, and Indian Alaskan Native beneficiaries. (Report here; Article here)
