  • Third Horizon Strategies Founder and CEO David Smith shared his insights on Amazon’s recent acquisition of One Medical and if the deal has the potentially to materially disrupt health care delivery. Pointing to similar announcements in the late 2010s where big promise was met with a “bit of a collective yawn,” David noted that the pendulum has swung back with the One Medical announcement. “My sense is that the industry is cautiously excited about what this might portend for disrupting the traditional outpatient model,” David said. In his view, Amazon could become a health care power center if they can apply their understanding of consumers and technologies to influence and shape how consumers are interacting with the system.
