  • Anthony Fauci announced that he is departing his government roles in December after decades as the nation’s top infectious disease expert. Fauci, who served as the chief medical adviser to the president and longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), was clear that he is not retiring. “After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field,” Fauci said.
