Payers
  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the final Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System rule, confirming a 4.3 percent pay increase for Medicare inpatient hospital services in fiscal 2023. The bump is higher than the 3.2 percent the agency proposed in April and amounts to a pay increase of approximately $2.6 billion. The CMS also finalized three new requirements for hospitals to measure health equity: the first aims to assess a hospital’s equity culture by examining strategic planning and leadership engagement, the other focus on screening and identifying social needs such as food insecurity and transportation.
