  • The White House announced that Robert J. Fenton Jr. will lead the nation’s monkeypox response. Fenton currently serves as a regional administrator for FEMA and has twice served as the acting administrator of FEMA. Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, Director of the CDC Division of HIV Prevention, will serve as the deputy coordinator. The team is tasked with managing the administration’s strategy and operations to combat the current monkeypox outbreak, including equitably increasing the availability of tests, vaccinations, and treatments.
