  • A federal judge struck down the mask mandate on public transit, less than a week after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had extended it through May 3. The judge ruled that the mandate exceeded the CDC’s authority and said it is up to individual airlines and local transit agencies to decide what to do. Although the ruling may not be final, by the end of the day Amtrak and the largest airlines announced masks would be optional. (Articles here, here, here, here, and here)
