- NorthShore University HealthSystem and Edward-Elmhurst Health announced plans to merge under a new nine-hospital parent entity. Should the deal go through, the resulting system would serve a region of more than 4.2 million Illinois residents and employ roughly 25,000 people and more than 6,000 physicians.
