  • The White House plans to release a prescription drug pricing plan today that backs proposals from Democratic lawmakers and outlines a strategy for administrative action for the first time. The plan broadly supports allowing the federal government to negotiate drug prices, promoting industry competition and boosting public and private research into new treatments, and calls for testing reimbursement for drugs in Medicare based on their clinical value.   • President Biden is expected today to unveil a plan that will push for new vaccine mandates and testing programs as part of a revamped approach to ending the pandemic. The administration’s six-pronged plan will focus on vaccinating the unvaccinated, further protecting the vaccinated through booster shots, keeping schools open, increasing testing and requiring masks, economic recovery and improving care for those with COVID-19.   • The Biden administration is preparing to sue Texas over its restrictive new abortion law, with a lawsuit coming as soon as today. The Justice Department, which would be adding on to state-level legal challenges over reproductive rights, is expected to argue that the Texas law illegally interferes with federal interests.
