Mental Health
  • The Senate Finance committee released new draft legislation to address the mental health workforce shortage. The legislation seeks to add 400 new Medicare graduate medical education psychiatry slots a year for the next 10 years, offering a total of 4,000 additional psychiatric residencies. It would also increase bonus payments for mental health providers – including psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, as well as other nonphysician practitioners – that offer care to underserved communities.
