  • A federal judge conditionally approved Purdue Pharma LP’s bankruptcy settlement, requiring the Sackler family to pay $4.5 billion over nine years to fund addiction treatment and prevention initiatives across the country. The settlement also requires that the manufacturer itself will be reorganized into a new charity-oriented company with a board appointed by public officials. The Sacklers and Purdue will be shielded against all civil opioid claims. (Articles here, here, here, and here)
