  • The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed a rule that would ease the enrollment and renewal processes for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program benefits. CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure said the change would “ensure that these individuals and families, often from underserved communities, can access the health care and coverage to which they are entitled.” The proposed rule would limit renewals to every 12 months, require states to make clear how beneficiaries navigate those renewals, and ensure that enrollees’ returned mail doesn’t result in lapsed coverage or rejections.
