  • The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) renewed the national public health emergency (PHE) for the monkeypox outbreak. Although cases continue to drop, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said that the “continued consequences of an outbreak of monkeypox cases across multiple states” as well as a “consultation with public health officials” led the department to renew the PHE. More than 28,000 monkeypox cases have been confirmed in the U.S., as well as six related deaths. (Article here)
