Providers
  • A new report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that fewer providers in rural and underserved areas participated in advanced alternative payment models (APMs). According to the report, 11.9 percent of providers in rural and underserved areas took part in advanced APMs in 2019, compared with 14.8 percent of providers not in such areas. Interviews with 15 stakeholder organizations revealed that the top challenge for rural providers to shift to value-based care is not having enough money to transition to the payment model.
