  • Two U.S. representatives introduced a bipartisan bill to establish legal penalties for assaulting or intimidating hospital employees. The Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees (SAVE) Act includes protections for “individuals who may be mentally incapacitated due to illness or substance use.” The American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) have endorsed the bill. Wisconsin and Utah signed laws criminalizing violence or threats against health care workers. Kansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Michigan are considering similar measures. (Article here)
