  • The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged 36 defendants with using telehealth to defraud Medicare. Allegedly, the defendants engaged conducted $1.2 billion in medical fraud, with much of that coming from phony telehealth claims for unnecessary genetic tests and medical equipment. The DOJ also announced that the government disrupted the activities of a ransomware group connected to the North Korean government that targeted hospitals in Kansas and Colorado. Authorities seized $500,000 from the hacker, which they plan to return to the ransomware victims. (Articles here and here)
