  • The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases reported that a Phase 3 clinical trial of Janssen’s HIV vaccine was stopped because the vaccine was ineffective. The trial began in 2019 and included 3,900 gay men and transgender people at over 50 sites in Europe and the Americas. The leaders of the study decided to halt the study after a data and safety monitoring board found there were roughly as many new HIV infections among people who received the vaccine and the placebo.(Press release here; here, here, and here)
