- A new report from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists found that drug spending in the U.S. hit $576.9 billion in 2021, a 7.7 percent increase over 2020. Hospitals accounted for $39.6 billion of that spending, with an 8.4 percent growth from 2020 to 2021. The report predicts spending could jump even more this year due to inflation and the federal government no longer paying for COVID-19 treatments. (Report here)
