  • A Willis Towers Watson survey found that U.S. employers expect health care costs to increase by 6 percent in 2023. Fifty-four percent of the 455 employers who responded to the survey reported that their health care costs in 2022 will be over budget. Another 70 percent expect moderate to significant increases in what they will spend on their health care benefits over the next three years. To address higher costs, 52 percent will implement programs or switch to vendors that will reduce total costs; 24 percent will shift costs to employees through higher premium contributions.
