  • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating whether U.S. Anesthesia Partners (USAP) has accumulated too much power in some markets via acquisitions. USAP was founded in 2012 by the private-equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe and currently has 4,500 anesthesia providers across nine states. The probe falls in line with growing agency scrutiny under FTC Chair Lina Khan into private equity’s role in health care. (Article here)
