- Senator Dick Durbin and Representative Lauren Underwood wrote a letter urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to expand Medicare’s coverage of substance use disorder (SUD) to address key gaps exacerbating the addiction crisis. The lawmakers encouraged CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to use new funding and existing authority to expand Medicare coverage of residential SUD treatment services, address reimbursement rates, and remove licensure barriers for SUD treatment providers.
