  • Peter Marks, the Food and Drug Administration’s vaccines chief, said in an interview that he’s worried about the possibility of deploying another COVID-19 booster before next September or October because of the speed at which the virus is evolving. Marks said the changing nature of SARS-CoV-2 viruses puts pressure on mRNA manufacturers to modify and improve the staying power of their shots, while the long-term answer may lie in other vaccines that “might provide more durable immunity.” He believes that COVID-19 vaccines will need to be updated on a regular basis, at least for the time being.
