  • The World Health Organization (WHO) said that it will phase out the use of “monkeypox” and replace it with “mpox” after the scientific community asked for a new name to avoid stigmatization that can be associated with infection. In a statement, WHO said that after the outbreak of the virus expanded earlier this year, the organization received reports of racist and stigmatizing language online and in other settings and communities.
