  • The Biden administration is expected to signal this week if it will extend the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) extended the emergency declaration through July 15 and committed to giving states and health providers 60 days’ notice before it ends. While ending the emergency would allow President Biden to declare the pandemic over, it would also halt numerous health policies and funding at a time when hospitals and physician groups say they are needed.
