• Health policy experts say that the CDC and FDA aren’t the only federal institutions that have bureaucratic and cultural issues that slowed America’s pandemic response; the National Institutes of Health needs a critical look. Of the 40 published clinic trials the Infectious Diseases Society of America cited in their guidelines for treating hospitalized COVID patients, only a few were generated by the NIH. According to the experts, the NIH “has become sclerotic, cautious, focused on doing what it has always done and withdrawing from clinical research.” (Article here)
