  • The Senate parliamentarian will decide this week if the Senate’s reconciliation legislation complies with reconciliation rules. Her ruling will not only dictate what prescription drug components can move forward, but also how much money Democrats can spend. If the parliamentarian retains the prescription drug pricing reforms and the enhanced ACA subsidies for another two years, the Democrats could have approximately $250 billion to allocate to other initiatives. However, they will have to negotiate any additional spending with Senator Joe Manchin, who made it clear that he wants any unspent money going toward the deficit. (Article here)
