  • A Wall Street Journal article discusses how the Biden administration is expanding states’ ability to use Medicaid funding to pay for food and nutritional counseling. Last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved three state demonstrations allowing Arkansas, Oregon, and Massachusetts to use federal and state funds on health-related social needs, which include nutrition counseling and healthy-meal preparation. State requests will serve as a test case to determine if “food as medicine” can improve Medicaid recipients’ overall health and help lower spending. (Article here)
