  • A Wall Street Journal article examines how the surge in digital mental health treatment instigated a decline in the quality of care. According to the article, many of the new digital mental health companies used “classic Silicon Valley tactics” such as using contractors rather than employees to control costs and setting large marketing budgets – strategies that are “designed for mundane businesses” and can be badly suited to the treating mental health problems. Due to high demand, companies struggled to hire enough therapists so they loosened training requirements and algorithms that match clients to appropriate providers. (Article here)
