- Moderna filed a lawsuit against Pfizer and BioNTech, alleging the vaccine makers “unlawfully copied Moderna’s inventions, and they have continued to use them without permission.” Moderna is seeking compensation from Pfizer for the use of technology that it says it pioneered. Initially, Moderna said that it would not enforce it patents while the pandemic continued. Then, in March, the company indicated it would update its pledge when the world entered a “new phase.” It now says it will enforce its patents, expect for those in 92 low and middle-income countries.
