Tanner Johnson

Senior Data Analyst

Tanner is a health care data expert who specializes in making technical data concepts understandable, digestible, and useful for health care professionals. He has a wide breadth of experience in the health care data space having worked on clinical trial analysis, claims analysis, health initiative interventions and outreach, health care pricing and rate setting, episodes of care, risk adjustment, as well as quality and performance tracking.

Tanner comes to Third Horizon Strategies (THS) from Commonwealth Health Advisors where he served as the firm’s Senior Analytics Consultant. In that role, he guided clients in building internal systems for monitoring HEDIS measure and other KPI reporting and analytics, and he led client engagements in analyzing clinical trial results and preparing those reports for publication. Tanner also wrote the organization’s template for assessing the data capabilities of providers in the Value Based Care space. Prior to this Tanner worked as an Actuarial Analyst for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield and for Evolent Health.

Tanner has a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from Brigham Young University, where he also studied Statistical Science, Chinese language, and Business Management.

Tanner is a LEGO hobbyist and never shies away from sharing his most recent creations. He regularly volunteers as a Professor with Play! Pokémon where he teaches kids and adults to play the trading card game and hosts and organizes tournaments, fundraisers, and other playful events.
