Chicago, IL, April 2, 2019 – Third Horizon Strategies (THS) is proud to announce that Greg Williams, former Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Facing Addiction with NCADD, has joined the firm as a managing director.

David Smith, THS Founder and CEO, first partnered with Greg in 2017 when the two spearheaded The Alliance for Recovery-Centered Addiction Services (Alliance) – a national multi-sector alliance of health care industry leaders dedicated to finding solutions to the addiction crisis created in partnership with Facing Addiction with NCADD and Leavitt Partners. Last fall the Alliance published the “Addiction Recovery Medical Home Alternative Payment Model,” a widely-heralded value-based alternative payment model for addiction aimed to establish an aligned payment architecture that incentivizes long-term recovery and promotes the type of integration and patient care capable of producing improved outcomes for patients, payers, and health systems.

“Third Horizon Strategies is highly committed to working with public and private partners to advance the principles relating to payment and delivery system reform capable of providing a sustained economic and social impact for addiction treatment and recovery that our country desperately needs,” said David Smith. Having personally witnessed the profound human cost borne by families and those struggling with substance abuse, I deeply appreciate the difficult road to recovery millions of Americans face.”

At Third Horizon Strategies Greg will lead a deep focus in substance use disorder health strategy and serve in a variety of advisory roles. His consulting portfolio will include alternative payment models for addiction recovery, network and system design and development, workforce engagement and scaling strategies, opioid crisis government appropriations and litigation investment strategies, grassroots advocacy engagement activities, event production, and public policy advisory roles. Greg will also continue to pursue his passion for communications as vehicle for stigma reduction and solution-oriented storytelling in a variety of mediums.
