Mental Health
  • Provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that U.S. suicide rate rose in 2021 after two consecutive years of declines. In 2021, 47,646 people in the U.S. died by suicide, up from 45,979 in 2020. The four-percent increase underscores concern about the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on mental health. The rise was driven largely by suicides among men. Males ages 15 to 24 experienced the sharpest increase at 8 percent. (Articles here and here)
