  • In an interview with Politico, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said that her planned overhaul of the agency has been hindered by resistance. According to Walensky, the agency has not been able to persuade states to share more information about disease outbreaks, and Congress has not provided sufficient funding to recruit new talent and training of the workforce. Walensky said those are some of the elements critical to the CDC’s efforts to communicate better and more efficiently with the public during a pandemic, noting that “we haven’t been able to be as nimble as we’ve needed to be.” (Article here)
