Access & Coverage
  • The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved four additional states to expand Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage to up to a year postpartum. Florida, California, Oregon, and Kentucky join a list of seven other states that have received postpartum extension approval: Tennessee and South Carolina, approved earlier this month, and Louisiana, Michigan, Virginia, New Jersey, and Illinois. CMS is also working with another six states – Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia – and D.C. to extend postpartum coverage for 12 months after pregnancy.
